The U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) has the rest of the 2024 season to look forward to, coming off their gold-medal win at the Paris Olympics. As of August 2024, they held the highest FIFA ranking for women's soccer, with a total of 2,076.9 points and more World Cup titles than any other country. The team aims to maintain their momentum through upcoming friendly matches as they prepare for a busy 2025. Here’s what’s on the schedule.
When’s the next US women’s soccer game?
The next game for the U.S. Women's National Team is on October 24, 2024, against Iceland at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas. This friendly will be their first outing since the Paris Olympics, with kickoff set for 7:30 PM ET / 4:30 PM PT.
The teams will meet again three days later, on October 27, for a rematch at GEODIS Park in Nashville, Tennessee. Iceland is 13th in the global rankings and eighth in Europe, so the matches should be a tough test for the USWNT as they return to action and try out some new strategies.

What can we expect from the USWNT this year?
The USWNT has lost just once in 18 games this year, with that surprising defeat to Mexico at the Concacaf W Gold Cup in February. As the year goes on, the team will focus on perfecting their tactics and giving younger players more opportunities on the field.
Following their gold medal win at the Paris Olympics, head coach Emma Hayes emphasized the need to play against strong opponents. She noted that the team is taking a lot of great lessons from their experiences in France and is eager to continue developing. Hayes stated, “To keep learning and growing, we need to play the best teams possible. Playing matches in Europe against some of the world’s top teams will be an important part of our journey.”
The upcoming friendlies against Iceland, Argentina, England, and the Netherlands will help the team stay ready and keep up their level of play as they prepare for next year. These matches will bring opportunities for the team to test different strategies and player combinations without too much pressure.
What’s next for the USWNT after 2024?
While 2025 doesn’t have major tournaments like the World Cup or Olympics, the U.S. Women’s National Team has a busy schedule coming up. Like every year, the team will take part in the SheBelieves Cup — and after this year’s triumph, fans can expect they snag the championship again in 2025.
The USWNT will also participate in the Concacaf Women’s Championship qualifiers. However, since the U.S. and Canada are the top-ranked nations in the region, they will receive a bye to the 2026 Concacaf W Championship. This championship will run as the Confederation’s qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil and the 2028 LA Summer Olympics.
